Truther is still out there as a derogatory term! Pete Carroll, former coach of the USC Trojans and now coach of the Seattle Seahawks, gets tagged and dismissed with it. Either we find a way to get rid of it – fight back against truther shaming – or we adopt the label with pride. We could have truther pride rallies outside the 9/11 museum.
Good for Pete Carroll. We have a lot of famous people now who bear the label. But think about this question: how did a word that means simply, someone who wants to know the truth, become aligned with words like wacko and crazy? It’s truly odd what public discourse can do to concepts.
Meantime, read Pete Carroll’s remarks about our involvement in Iraq in the article below. The war in Iraq and the events of 9/11 are related.

“And once again, Pete Carroll is mocked and ignored when he should be listened to. No one out there is better equipped to discuss the ins-and-outs of a long-term war and the occupation of an enemy’s territory than a former Trojan.”
