If he wants to force them to behave a certain way during public rites like the national anthem, why doesn’t he simply line up a bunch of dummies at the sideline during the music? If he puts helmets on his dummies, television cameras and fans can’t tell the difference.
Now we see fanatics on campus who want to control what you think, what you say, how you behave, how you interact with your friends. If you make a mistake, as the fanatics define mistakes, they call you before kangaroo courts to punish you or expel you from the community.
In all our yearning for change, the aim of freedom for all individuals remains constant.
People who care about these questions want to know whether we can restore our freedom – and our security – without violence.
